NRMA St Helens Waterfront Holiday Park Review

We stayed here with our three kids aged from 4-10 years old.

Park cabins – ours was the first one. Room 15

There are a range of cabin and studio options. The cabins are all two bedroom and sleep up to 6 people depending on the type. Studios are for couples with everything you need in an open plan environment with one queen bed.

All options are self contained with kitchens, dining areas, bathrooms, air conditioning and Smart TV. All have outdoor seating and some have views out over the bay.

There are also sites available here perfect for caravans, motor homes, campervans and tents. You can pick from powered or unpowered options and there is also an ensuite option.

Finally, there is bunkhouse style accommodation for groups on a budget with bunk beds, air conditioning, heating and smart TV.

We stayed in a Park View Cabin which is the cheapest 2 bedroom option and suitable for our family of five. It was also all that was left when we booked our stay here – which I’m happy about as it’s perfect!

Like new, the cabin is bright and cheery with a deck complete with two chairs and a table.

Inside, there is a small living area with couches for four, a coffee table and a dining table with five chairs as well as a desk and TV. The fully self contained kitchen had plenty of space and everything we needed including a microwave oven, fridge, freezer, small dishwasher and stove top.

There is a bathroom with shower and two bedrooms. One is small with two sets of single bunks without room for anything else.

The main bedroom is bigger. We had a queen size bed but other people we talked to had doubles. There is also a small cupboard and a desk.

There is plenty of light in the cabin (with good curtains for sleep time) and everything was like new. We loved this cabin except one thing – there is no room in the second bedroom for luggage or clothing. It would be great if there was some type of storage space for the occupants of that room somewhere.

There are a few different facilities at the NRMA St Helens to make stays here easy.

There is a small playground complete with a big jumping pillow where our kids spent a lot of time. It also seemed like a great place for kids to make friends.

There is a recreation room with some games including a table tennis table and foosball table.

The camp kitchen is a big, clean amazing area with tables and chairs and lots of cooking facilities including some BBQs. We enjoyed using this area with some friends that were also staying at the park.

There is a shop on site called the Providore with a reasonable variety of foods including snacks, cheeses, ice cream and wines.

By reception is the Parkside Bar and Kitchen which is a popular large restaurant with a variety of dishes open daily for lunch and dinner or a drink. It’s open to the public and has a nice setting opposite the water.

Located about 5 minutes drive from the centre of St Helens, NRMA is easy to find on St Helens Point Road just near the main highway. The turn off is signposted. It is opposite the water.

You will want a car or bike to get around from here.

Final Words

Inside the recreation room

We had a great stay here. It’s a well maintained and organised park and we were very comfortable in our cabin. It’s also easy to get out and about from here.

The best part, though, was that we visited during school holidays which was great as there were so many kids here. Our older kids loved roaming around with new friends which made this a very easy trip for us. If you aren’t travelling with kids, you may not like this so much and are maybe better off avoiding school holidays.

The upside in either case is that it is quiet at night and we had some great sleeps here.

Regardless, if you are looking for a comfortable and friendly place to stay in St Helens, consider the NRMA St Helens Waterfront Holiday Park.
