On our recent trip, we were keen to explore more of north west Tasmania after my great trip to Longford and surrounds. The first part of this was to stop somewhere in the area that is an easy drive to Hobart.

Enter Deloraine. Just two hours forty minutes from Hobart or forty minutes from Devonport on your way south, Deloraine is in a handy location for exploring this region of Tasmania.

After we decided to stop there, we looked for affordable accommodation that would work for our family of five and that’s when we found the Mountain View Country Inn. This seemed like a solid option for a great price that was exactly what we were after for an easy stopover.

So was it?

Below, you will find our full Mountain View Country Inn Deloraine review including what the rooms are like, what facilities exist and where you can find the Mountain View Deloraine.

Rooms

The restaurant and rooms

There are a range of room types at the Mountain View Motel Deloraine. There are double, twin and queen rooms, motel style, as well as family rooms and a two bedroom apartment. There is also a double room with spa.

All rooms come with ensuite bathrooms, toaster, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and daily housekeeping. They also have a small table with chairs, TV and are advertised as having a DVD player but our room did not have one. Heating is available and air conditioning is in some rooms.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment.

Two Bedroom Apartment

The two bedroom apartment comes with everything listed above as well as a lounge/dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and air conditioning.

I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious, well presented and comfortable this room was. I am used to motel style rooms in Tasmania being quite dated and needing renovation, but I did not feel that about this room.

On entry into the room, we entered the second bedroom with three single beds, cupboard space and a luggage rack. At the back of this room is the bathroom with toilet, basin and bath. Shampoo and soap was provided.

Exiting the bedroom the other way, there were three steps down to the combined kitchen/dining/lounge area. This has plenty of space with a six person dining table and chairs, full kitchen and a three-seater and single lounge as well as a TV on a cabinet. This room has split cycle heating/cooling.

While we didn’t cook in the kitchen, it seemed to have everything you would need including a full fridge and freezer, toaster, kettle, oven/stove and microwave.

The final room is the main bedroom which has a queen bed, couch, cupboard, luggage rack and bedside tables. The best part about this room is the big windows with a sliding door to outside with paddock and mountain views and a chair swing just outside. It isn’t just for this room but it feels like it. It’s a relaxing view.

Facilities

This motel is on the simple side so there isn’t a ton of facilities but there is everything you need.

Onsite parking is available and you can park at your front door. There are also coin-operated laundry facilities, free wifi, complimentary DVD hire and a safety deposit box.

We found the wifi slow but fine for casual holiday browsing and email.

Dining

Mountain View Country Inn Deloraine Settlers Restaurant
Inside Settler’s Restaurant

Dining is very easy here with an onsite restaurant and room service during opening hours. There are also breakfast options that can be delivered to your room.

The Settler’s Licensed Bar and Restaurant is open for dinner daily. Take away hot drinks are available throughout the day.

We ate there for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. While the service was slow, the food was great. We were there on parma night and it may be the best parma I have ever had! So, despite some frustration over the speed (an hour to get our food with three kids after a long drive is hard work) and some rudeness from the staff, I would so go back for another one of those parmas!

The restaurant itself was well presented with an outdoor deck with rural views.

Final Words

Overall, I enjoyed staying here and recommend it. It’s in a handy position, the room was great and the parmas delicious! It’s a shame the restaurant wasn’t a bit faster and made us feel like we were an inconvenience, but, otherwise, we were very happy with our stay here.
