My favourite fruit? Raspberries! And I think Tasmania has some of the world’s best. This means whenever I am travelling Tasmania, I take the opportunity to eat them whenever I can and my favourite place to eat them is at the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm!

Conveniently located by the main highway between Devonport and points further south, the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm café has been a breakfast tradition for us when we have driven off the Spirit of Tasmania from Geelong. Now I live here again, I have to seek it out and it’s always worth the effort.

Below, you will find our full review of Raspberry Farm Christmas Hills so you can decide if this is the right place to go for you.

Christmas Hill Raspberry Farm Review

I always visit here with my three kids aged 5 – 11 on our last visit – and I’ve been bringing them from birth!

The first thing I notice when we drive into Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm is the low key restaurant building and glimpses of a pretty garden. There is a decent sized car park and a neighbouring overflow one so you won’t have problems finding somewhere to park.

On entry into the building, there is a small gift shop of raspberry products including fresh and frozen raspberries and blackberries, sauces and jams. There’s also take away drinks and ice cream (the raspberry is so good).

The restaurant itself is a decent size with a big deck that is enclosed but can be opened up in nice weather.

Outside, there is a small lake with a path around it as well as a big grassy area with multiple play areas including an enclosed play area with cubby for younger kids, soccer ball and goals and cricket gear. There are also plenty of tables and chairs.

It’s a beautiful setting and we had fun playing out here while we waited for our food. In fact, I think it would be very easy to spend a lazy afternoon here.

Back inside, there is a good menu to choose from best suited to a breakfast or brunch which is when we tend to go. There’s also a lunch style menu but given the main attraction is raspberries, I have never tried the burgers and other items on offer. You can see the full menu below.

There’s a kids menu – the sizes are just slightly smaller than ordering a small of the main dishes. They were a good size for our four year old, but I’m glad I ordered our older kids something from the adults menu. The kids menu has photos and my four year old just couldn’t decide because he wanted everything ☺

We had a variety of raspberry dishes including crepes, waffles, pancakes and French toast. To say we were all happy is an understatement. Simply delicious!

This place can get busy. We were there right when it opened at 8am and it had a reasonable size crowd by 8:30 so I recommend you consider booking – when we’ve come later in the morning, we’ve been lucky to get a table otherwise. It’s also very busy at the time that the cars all arrive here from the Spirit of Tasmania after it docks.

On leaving, we had to buy the perfect souvenir of our visit – a kilo of raspberries, so good! I can’t wait until we can go back again.

Below, you can find pictures of the menu from Dec 2020. I forgot to take pictures from our most recent visit in April 2022, but the prices were the same for the things I remembered.

Final Words

On a Tassie trip, you have to make sure you have some of the delicious local raspberries at some point and this is the perfect place to do so. With its location by a main highway, it’s an easy place to find and add to an itinerary around the state.

The beautiful grounds and the delicious fresh raspberries, ice cream and meals make this the perfect stop for any time of day.

Maybe I will see you there!
